My name is Maureen Reid, and I am the business owner and designer of most of the clothing items you are about to view. Additional items, such as Sweaters and Tee-Shirts have been located through some great sources and I am pleased to offer them also on my site.

I am very excited to have started Maureen's Designs for Canines in the summer of 2006. It all began when, a while back, I purchased a long hair mini Dachshund, (named him PeeWee) and could not find a coat or sweater that would cover his entire long body.

I started playing around with store bought patterns, but soon found I needed to adjust them to my growing baby. As I would take him everywhere I went, people started noticing his quickly expanding wardrobe and asked where I found coats for such a long dog! After explaining I made them, they would tell me they had similar problems for their dogs! After that, people asked me to make coats for their dogs! Well, that is how it all began. A new learning experience for me! What could be better I asked myself!

After a few months of making coats, I felt something was missing in my life. I had a beautiful mini Dachshund little boy and a great male Belgian Shepherd, but no little girl!! Along came Daisey! We found our black & white Chihuahua as a baby in a nearby state and watched her grow till she was old enough to come home with us and join our family.

Well, it did not take long for Daisey to warm up everyone’s heart; our four cats and two male dogs felt as if they needed to protect her. She became the “Darling” of the Reid family! This was just what I needed to alleviate my fashion boredom. I could include dresses and other exciting new clothing ideas for Girls! Well I must say Daisey, PeeWee, and I have so much fun creating new things that I felt I should share them with anyone who likes to dress up their precious pet!

This site was created and designed with the help of new friends I have made in the process of starting my business - most of whom are also dog lovers and owners. We all agreed that this site would be a fun place to visit and purchase clothing items that are unique and will turn heads, as your “babies” would walk down the street. Isn’t that why we dote on them? It makes us feel good? That is what I hope you will feel when you are browsing Daisey and PeeWee’s closet. (Both of my babies are the ones on either side of the closet) I hope you will be able to find something that makes you feel good.

If your pet has Special Needs or is Physically Challenged, and a typical coat or dress will not fit properly, please feel free to call me about custom designing a one of a kind outfit that would work for your baby. This is what my 'Designs for Canines' is all about. Daring to be different and giving responsible and loving dog owners a place where they can shop, browse, and purchase and outfit that they can proudly say was designed with their dog in mine, and not pay a fortune.

I hope you will contact me if you see something you like on one of my pages that needs a little “tweaking” to suit your preferences. Perhaps a modification, embellishment or a different color or fabric that would make that coat or dress just right for your dog.
